As a child, I marveled at how electricity could make machines work, and as I grew older, I nurtured this passion into a full-fledged pursuit of knowledge. Today, I'm Jonathan Gaucin, an Honors Electrical Engineering Student at the University of Houston, eagerly soaking in all aspects of the field. My academic journey is marked by consistent excellence, a fact attested by my inclusion in the Dean's List and being a 2023 HSF Scholar of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. As a member of IEEE-HKN, the International Honors society for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, I actively participate in and contribute to the collective knowledge pool. Currently, I am working as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Structures & Artificial Intelligence Lab (SAIL) at UH, where I'm honing my skills in Robotics, Secure Shell (SSH) programming, and Computer Vision. This experience is enriching my knowledge of engineering and nurturing my interpersonal communication skills. Simultaneously, I serve as the Events Director at CougarAI, after having been the Events Coordinator. Here, I use my leadership and event management skills to orchestrate activities for our 400+ member student organization, formulating professional structures for various events and promoting widespread participation. Additionally, I am part of the STEM Outreach Squad at the STEM Center UH, where I help organize STEM events for K-12 students, coordinate volunteers, and inspire younger generations towards STEM fields. Fluent in English and Spanish, I am eager to contribute to diverse teams and projects. As an engineer, I possess a strong foundation in tools like Python, MATLAB, Arduino, and Microsoft Excel, and I'm always open to learning more.
